Competitions 08/07/2010
In addition to our classes, British Council holds a number of competitions throughout the year. We're currently inviting submissions for our Global YL Art Competition and this year's theme is "My Favourite Food". Children can submit their pictures on A4 or A3 paper to their teaching centre by Sunday September 26 (please use pastels, crayons, coloured pens anad avoid coloured pencils as the colours and lines need to be strong). If you'd like more information don't hesitate to drop me a line or contact your teaching centre / child's teacher. I look forward to receiving lots of pictures to make my mouth water! Dear Parents First of all I'd like to welcome back our returning students and extend a warm welcome to those joining us for the first time. I hope you all had a lovely June holiday and are raring to go for the second half of the year. Don't forget to contact me if you haven't received the email address of your child's teacher and remember you can contact him / her if you have any questions about what they've been studying in class, what the homework is or if you know your child will be absent from a lesson. News for this term includes: 1) Primary 5 and 6 students at our Napier Road centre will now be able to use the Learning Zone for the first time. So many of our students read a wide variety of books (which we're delighted about!) so we wanted to extend this priviledge to them. They can now borrow books from the book box or the Learning Zone by using their ez link card. 2) As always we've got some competitions to participate in this term including an ongoing Monthly Book Review - students have to read a book from the book boxes or Learning Zone, write a review and send it in to me. We've got book tokens to hand out every month for the winner. 3) Our annual Art Competition is now open - the title this year is "My Favourite Food". The deadline for entries is the end of September and we will be posting more details in our centres shortly. 4) We will be sending out information shortly about our Parent-Teacher consultations. It's a great opportunity to come and meet your child's teacher and find out more about what we do here at the British Council. Once again, welcome back to Term 3 and I look forward to speaking to you all soon. Anna Registration for Terms 3 and 4 04/09/2010
